Happy 7th Birthday to our sweet Cailyn!!
Well, folks, if you had asked our kids they would tell you today took for-eh-ver to get here. It is finally Cailyn’s birthday! If you ask Mom and Dad? We’d tell you today came all too quickly! She is growing up way too fast!
The original plan was to spend most of the day at the park, but when the weather decided to turn cold and drizzly we improvised. The Vienna Marathon was today and they ran, quite literally, right in front of our building. So we headed out to a street side cafe for a celebratory hot chocolate and to cheer on the runners. The atmosphere, despite the weather, was absolutely electric.
Then it was home for the obligatory birthday showing of Frozen, and to have lunch. The afternoon was spent resting and playing before friends came over for dinner and cake.
Cailyn had requested an Olaf the Snowman cake with icicles dripping down it. Yeah, sure, no problem. Ha!! I think they’ve watched too many episodes of Cupcake Wars. All in all, though, I (Jen) think the cake turned our really well and tasted great, too. It’s a snicker doodle cake with vanilla buttercream icing.
Our poor birthday girl ended the day with a little fever but in good spirits. We all had a wonderful day celebrating our sweet seven year old.
Cailyn, you are loving, caring, compassionate and kind. You’re strong, tenacious and passionate. You love other people and you always astonish us with your generosity, tender heart, and ability to sense when others are hurting a need a hand. You’re super smart and a great sister, friend and daughter. The past seven years having you in our family has brought so much joy, laughter, fun, silliness, thoughtfulness and more laughter. We love you so very much and are so proud of the young lady you are growing up to be. Happy birthday, Booboo!
