Dürnstein Castle

Recently our family took a trip about an hour away from Vienna to see the little village of Dürnstein. This little town sits on the bank of the Danube in the Wine Valley just west of Vienna. It’s most famous for being the location that King Richard the Lionheart (you’d remember him from the legend of Robin Hood) was imprisoned following the 3rd Crusades by Austrian Duke Leopold V. Overlooking the town is an amazing castle ruin built in the late 11th century. It’s fascinating to say the least!!

Looking up at the Castle...it's a fun hike to get there!
